In a recent series of diplomatic engagements, Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, reached out via telephone to two key international figures: Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Tarek Mitri and Mali’s Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop. The purpose of these discussions was to explore and enhance bilateral relations while addressing pressing regional issues.
During his call with Lebanon’s Deputy Prime Minister, Al Khulaifi expressed Qatar’s concerns over the ongoing situation in Lebanon. He condemned the persistent Israeli assaults on Lebanese soil, noting the intensification of military operations in southern Lebanon that have endangered civilian lives. Al Khulaifi emphasized that such actions represent a blatant violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty, contravening international law and potentially destabilizing the broader region. He stressed the urgent need for an immediate cessation of hostilities, adherence to the ceasefire, and the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701. Furthermore, he urged the international community to step in decisively to halt these violations and safeguard Lebanon’s territorial integrity.
Reaffirming Qatar’s steadfast support for Lebanon, Al Khulaifi conveyed his country’s solidarity with the Lebanese people amidst their ongoing crisis. He underscored the importance of international efforts in ensuring Lebanon’s security and stability during these challenging times.
In a separate conversation with Mali’s Foreign Minister, Abdoulaye Diop, Al Khulaifi focused on strengthening the cooperative ties between Qatar and Mali. The two diplomats exchanged insights on the evolving situation in the African Sahel region. Al Khulaifi reiterated Qatar’s commitment to supporting Mali in its efforts to uphold national security and stability, highlighting the importance of maintaining the safety of Malian citizens.
These discussions underscore Qatar’s active role in international diplomacy, as the nation seeks to foster peace and cooperation in regions facing significant challenges. Al Khulaifi’s engagements reflect Qatar’s broader diplomatic strategy aimed at reinforcing alliances and addressing regional security concerns through dialogue and collaboration.
