In an effort to bolster economic ties, First Vice Chairman of Qatar Chamber, Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari, recently engaged in discussions with Vietnam’s Ambassador to Qatar, Nguyen Huy Hiep, at the chamber’s Lusail headquarters. The meeting centered on enhancing trade and investment relations between Qatar and Vietnam, with a particular focus on private sector collaboration.
The dialogue underscored the potential for increased cooperation between Qatari and Vietnamese businesses, targeting key sectors ripe for investment and growth. Al Kuwari expressed Qatar Chamber’s commitment to fostering stronger partnerships and joint ventures, while commending Vietnam for its robust economic performance. The ambassador reciprocated by underscoring Vietnam’s eagerness to deepen economic collaboration with Qatar, highlighting a significant rise in bilateral trade, which surpassed $860 million in 2024 — an increase of $100 million from the previous year.
Ambassador Huy Hiep urged Qatari investors to consider the lucrative opportunities available in Vietnam, particularly in the fields of agriculture, food processing, and halal products. He emphasized the strategic role that Qatar Chamber could play in promoting Vietnamese agricultural and halal goods within the Qatari market, thereby reinforcing the economic partnership between the two nations.
As part of these efforts, the ambassador extended an invitation to Qatar Chamber and Qatari business leaders to attend the Vietnam International Sourcing Expo 2026, which is set to take place in Ho Chi Minh City next September. This annual event is a significant global platform for trade, focusing on sourcing, exports, and supply chain collaboration. It attracts international companies and industry leaders across various sectors, including food and beverages, textiles, furniture, consumer goods, agriculture, and logistics, offering a prime opportunity for networking and business development.
