As Vietnam continues to deepen its international relations, the recent National Day celebration in Doha underscored the burgeoning partnership between Vietnam and Qatar. The event, commemorating the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, was a testament to the growing cooperation between the two nations, emphasizing mutual interests in peace, dialogue, and international cooperation.
The celebration in Doha drew the attendance of senior Qatari officials, diplomats, and business leaders, highlighting the high-level engagement between the countries. Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar, Nguyen Huy Hiep, spoke on Vietnam’s progress and the strengthening ties with Qatar, reflecting a shared vision of expanding their partnership across various sectors.
Diplomatic relations between Qatar and Vietnam have been in place since 1993, and over the years, the scope of their cooperation has broadened significantly. The two nations have established connections in trade, investment, energy, labor, aviation, agriculture, healthcare, hospitality, and telecommunications.
Economic ties in particular have seen a notable enhancement, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $423 million in 2025. This growth marks an increased engagement in business and investment, paving the way for further economic opportunities between Qatar and Vietnam.
Regular high-level exchanges have further solidified this relationship, including a notable visit by Qatar’s Prime Minister to Vietnam in October 2024. Such interactions signal both countries’ commitment to advancing their bilateral cooperation and exploring new avenues for economic partnership.
