Qatar recently participated in the 31st ministerial meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Electricity and Water Cooperation Committee, held in Manama, Bahrain. The meeting was centered around discussions to enhance cooperation among GCC countries in the realms of electricity and water security, crucial areas as the region faces increasing energy demands.
Leading Qatar’s delegation at the meeting was Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs. The discussions underscored the importance of regional electricity interconnectivity and water security, identifying these as key issues that require collective action and greater coordination among member states.
The meeting served as a platform to review the progress made since the previous session, emphasizing the need for continued collaboration to address ongoing and future regional challenges. The participants reiterated their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the energy and water sectors, reflecting the GCC’s strategic focus on ensuring sustainable development and resource management in the region.
