Qatar and Spain have reached a consensus to bolster their security collaboration in anticipation of the 2030 FIFA World Cup. This partnership is aimed at enhancing coordination and facilitating joint preparations for the prestigious football event.
During a visit to Spain, Qatar’s Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, engaged in discussions with Spain’s Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska Gómez. The talks centered on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring avenues for expanding cooperation, particularly in the realm of security. The discussions also covered various issues of mutual interest between the two nations.
In a significant move following their meeting, the two ministers formalized their intentions by signing a Letter of Intent focused on security cooperation for the upcoming World Cup in 2030. This agreement aims to enhance the collaboration between the interior ministries of Qatar and Spain, ensuring robust security planning and coverage for the tournament.
