In a recent diplomatic meeting, Qatar and Egypt have reiterated their dedication to enhancing their bilateral relationship and boosting cooperation across various sectors, including economic, investment, and labor. This commitment was underscored during a meeting between Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdelatty. The talks took place in Cairo as part of the seventh session of the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.
Both countries have acknowledged a significant leap in their economic relations, highlighted by an impressive 80 percent increase in trade in 2025. They also pointed to the growing presence of Qatari investments in Egypt, notably through a sustainable aviation fuel production initiative within the Suez Canal Economic Zone. This development is seen as a key step in furthering economic integration and mutual growth.
Discussions extended beyond trade and investments, as the officials addressed labor and consular cooperation. The meeting also covered regional issues, with a focus on efforts to de-escalate tensions and foster stability in the area. Both nations underscored the need for ongoing collaboration on matters concerning Gaza and expressed their continued support for diplomatic approaches to resolving regional conflicts.
In addition to these discussions, the importance of maritime security and the freedom of navigation in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea were emphasized by Qatar and Egypt. They highlighted these as crucial elements for safeguarding international trade routes and ensuring regional stability.
